If you choose PDF, keep the file under 5 MB. People scanning in a shop are often on mobile data and will give up on a 40 MB brochure. For PDFs, a dedicated file upload QR code also works well.

Shelf tag or label: minimum 2 x 2 cm.
A5 flyer or box insert: 3 to 4 cm.
Window poster read from 2 m away: about 20 cm.
Always print dark code on a light background and keep a white margin around it.

Use a dynamic code and one code per placement (window, shelf, flyer). Your dashboard then shows scans by location, day and device, so you know which display brings real interest and where to put your best products.
